Mitch Purgason, the founder of “Stitched by Mitch,” combines his love of sports and fashion for his professional athlete clients

Forbes published their 30 Under 30 list for 2022 in January. The list is comprised of 600 individuals who have been the top performers in their respective fields. It includes famous people from fashion, entertainment as well as music. There are also less well-known names in retail, science health, and many other fields. The Arts & Style section is a showcase of Mitch Purgason (29), an iconic Charlotte designer of clothing who has dressed celebrities like Josh Gordon, Mark Cuban and Bubba Wallace. The path that led to his recognition was made possible by determination, hard work and a meticulous focus on the smallest of details. Purgason was born in Greensboro and went to Appalachian State University. He began his business as a project. He was required to establish an enterprise in his entrepreneurial class. He started the business along with two other business students. He was looking to create affordable, custom-made suits for students at college. Purgason began Stitched by Mitch after taking design classes, studying fabrics, and studying with a professional tailor.

The famed clients of Purgason are a result of his connections to sports. He was an App State junior App State, and made the team of basketball. He had the opportunity to meet the former App State players who went on into the NFL. Although he didn’t get his first NFL client until the year 2019 Word-of-mouth marketing has proven to be an excellent benefit to his business.

His clothes often have distinctive Milanese buttons, a variety of styles, and his signature emblem, “unarazza diversa,” an Italian expression that translates to “cut from another fabric.” Purgason talked to Business North Carolina about having lengthy conversations with customers to customize custom-made pieces.

“I would like to know as much as I can regarding my customer. Purgason stated, “I ask questions to know their personality and relationship to colors. I also would like to find out what they prefer to wear when they’re dressed in clothes.”

His distinctive style allows him to design extravagant pieces. To match her teal GWagon, he designed Cassi Smith a teal leather jacket.

Purgason is well-known for his suits however he doesn’t want to be referred to as”the “suit man.” Purgason has broadened his collection to include beachwear, golf apparel and shirts and leather jackets, leather jackets. Purgason is currently working in luxury fashion management and will end the year by completing a tailoring class in Italy. A TV show on design is in development with a well-known star.

Purgason said, “I’m always striving to enhance.” He also stated that you should be willing to learn and enduring inconveniences to produce an item that you can be proud of.
